this city stays the same in the ways that i blame it for things that i couldn’t do o watch me while i sit right here repeating: “it’s just what it is” to tell you the truth the things that i didn’t do are all because i sit right here repeating “it’s just what it is” if you go… you can go you can go when you go go “i’m sleeping in the south sit back staring till i can’t get up to where to i need to go anymore i sleep until my face flips off taking to boredom for a minute and sit back staring to space it’s all i really want believe me” the city stays the same while we pass our time in artificial light to sit right down, forgive ourselves and say it is just what it is

if you feel a lock on the part that pulls you through the rooms then i’ll will be the one who will show you around meet me at the door that feels cold like a rock not poetic and soft like something we earned and forgot home is where we put things together it’s how we stop i can not believe it’s as simple as this tied you to the wood just to watch you work through something artless and hard you hadn’t looked small in a while living in a house that will trigger us open our hands in the hall to feeling didactic and owned home is how we sleep with each other it’s just enough over and again it’s as simple as this

about

Sarah Kinlaw is a multi-disciplinary artist and musician based in New York City. The cassette / digital release via Soap Library, 'a trigger for every body,' debuts her long-incubated solo, vocal work as Kinlaw. States of heightened sensitivity and vulnerability are reached through close examination of repressed memories and their corresponding sensory triggers, as Kinlaw re-paves cognitive pathways with pop-leaning structure and texture. A fascination with ASMR and synesthetic response reflects the physicality in Kinlaw’s intimate and immersive live performances.

At the invitation of the Wythe Hotel, Kinlaw choreographed and performed 'a trigger for every body' alongside close friends and dancers Kathleen Dycaico and Quenton Stuckey on Monday, June 12, 2017. Attendees selected from a range of timed performances taking place on the half- hour inside one of the hotel’s penthouse suites. Guests who arrived prior to their reserved performance time enjoyed a complimentary snack + aperitif and the opportunity purchase a limited edition 'a trigger for every body' cassette paired with a lemon-jasmine aromatherapy sniffer.
